The
Maltese Prehistoric era dates back to 5000-2500 BC. The first inhabitants
had a cyclical world view, in which everything was in a continuous
state of transformation.
They observed the seasons and the solar and lunar phases and possessed
a deep reverence for the ongoing process of birth, death and rebirth,
expressed so beautifully in a variety of spiral motifs on their
stone carvings. Their pottery incisions and decorations are loaded
with symbolism and speak of their religion and world view.
The female symbolism that was expressed throughout the Neolithic
age shows that the goddess was the origin and centre of everything.
Temple period Malta had a culture supremely directed to the earth
in all its manifestations. Theirs was a way of life that relied
on the powers of the earth, the goddess.
‘ORACLE” is the title of these six archaeological finds
representing ancient deities. Their universal message of truth comes
through body language, the suggestive postures having a powerful
significance. The spiral is no co-incidental motif but a symbol
of energy. The double spiral symbolizes energy from the heavens
and energy from earth. When these are in balance (and this is the
primary principle of prayer and meditation), then the phenomenon
of awareness occurs. This leads to acknowledging and experiencing
the union of Heaven and Earth or God and man/woman.Peace, Listen
