About the artist

Her early works depict marine life, still life and the figure. She exhibited in many solo and collective exhibitions in Australia, Canada, Dubai, England, France, Italy, Malta, Scotland, Switzerland and America.
In 1995 she was invited to represent Malta in a group exhibition at the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, celebrating International Woman’s Day. In that same year she was invited as the first woman artist to design a postage stamp for the Malta Post Office at the occasion of the United Nations International Woman’s Conference in Beijing, China.
Since 1995 Anna Grima has been inspired by her strong fascination with aspects of the spiritual traditions of different cultures, iconic representations of the ancient’s cyclical world view and universal sacred geometry.
Her recent works are representations of the sacred in nature, honoring the earth, the heavens and humanity. They are the expressions of human values translated into a contemporary perspective. Her artistic language, which includes the interaction of colours and their transparencies, creates varying moods resulting in an experience which inspires wholeness. These works have emerged from an intuitive understanding and a need to communicate a balance between the temporal and the spiritual.
